   We are pleased to be able to distribute the WEDGE filtration system along with our other x-ray supplies and equipment. 

We realize that spinal x-rays are an integral part of your practice and you want to be able to obtain the best quality x-ray films available, therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM. 

The WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM was developed after more than 10 years of research and investiga- tion into compensation filters. 

Previously, full spine and sectional films were taken with gradient or split-screen combinations. This procedure allowed for a reasonable quality radiograph but significantly increased the radiation exposure to the patient. 

The new WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM has a unique aluminum wedge design which is divided into three pieces, which will significantly enhance your ability in taking proper radiographs of individuals with varying body sizes and thickness. The three pieces allow you the doctor or your x-ray technician to make additions or deletions of aluminum as the need arises. The new WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM thus becomes more applicable to a wider range of patient body types and radiographic procedures. 

Additionally, there is a lateral stainless steel filter composed of one base filter and 4 additional filters, which can be easily added as the need arises~ This lateral filter is especially useful in obtaining good quality films of those difficult areas such as C-6, C- 7 and L-5. By utilizing the lateral filtration system you will be able to reduce unnecessary retakes of these areas as well as eliminating the need for spot views. 

Another feature of this new WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM is a LEAD SHADOW GONAD SHIELD which significantly reduces the amount of harmful radiation to the gonads. An independent study has been con- ducted which concluded that the new shadow shield protection is "approximately equivalent to that provided by shaped contact shields." 

The WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM comes complete with a pictorial instruction booklet which explains in detail how the WEDGE FILTRATION SYSTEM is used in the most common radiographic views taken by doctors of chiropractic. 

Other information accompanying this filtration system will be a brochure on "how to set up a technic chart". A brochure has also been designed to aid you in educating your patients to the fact that your facility has recently purchased a WEDGE filter and how this will enhance the image and credibility of your practice. 

All knowledgeable practitioners should be aware of the potential harm of ionizing radiation, thus any unnecessary patient exposure should be discouraged and in fact, many future legislative efforts will mandate the utilization of some form of compensation filter. We are pleased to be able to have this system available for purchase through our distributorship.

With the incorporation of new screens such as (QUANTA 111), the amount of MAS needed for a patient exposure as compared with other screens can be reduced by at least 50%.
